A rare, exceptional handmade Canadian guitar by master luthier Michel Pellerin
Offered for sale is this beautiful Pellerin Dreadnought Signature Series #65, handmade in Quebec, Canada, in June 2008 by Michel Pellerin and Gilbert Blais.
This is a true custom-built luthier instrument, crafted with exceptional materials and attention to detail. The original Pellerin label identifies it as Dreadnought, Palissandre/Épicéa (Rosewood/Spruce), serial #650608, and the guitar bears the Pellerin name proudly on its headstock.
The guitar features a striking Bearclaw Sitka Spruce top, with beautiful natural figuring that becomes especially apparent under the finish. The back and sides are Indian Rosewood, providing the depth, complexity, projection and sustain associated with high-quality rosewood dreadnoughts.
The combination of Bearclaw Sitka and Indian Rosewood gives this guitar an exceptionally rich and versatile voice.
This Pellerin has the powerful low-end response expected from a great dreadnought, while retaining excellent clarity and definition in the upper register.
It offers:
It is equally at home with delicate fingerstyle playing, flatpicking, strumming or more powerful acoustic work.
One of the most significant features of this particular instrument is its documented history with the original maker.
After years of playing and musical use, Michel Pellerin completely rebuilt and recalibrated this guitar, bringing it back to his current standards. The work included a new ebony bridge and a comprehensive setup/recalibration.
This is an important distinction from simply purchasing a 2008 guitar that has been sitting untouched for years. The instrument has benefited from the attention and expertise of the luthier who originally built it.
Pellerin guitars are individually handmade instruments with limited production, and this particular guitar has the added distinction of being documented by the maker as #65 from 2008.
The original custom build represents approximately 150–200 hours of hand craftsmanship, and replacing an instrument of this quality with a comparable new custom build would represent a substantial investment.
This is an opportunity to own a mature, professionally reconditioned Canadian-made boutique dreadnought with exceptional woods, a documented history, and the unmistakable character of a Pellerin guitar.
Pellerin Dreadnought #65 — a serious instrument for the serious acoustic guitarist.
